fzf reads lines from stdin, shows them in an interactive list, and filters them as you type using fuzzy matching, so srvcfg can match server/config.yaml. When you press Enter, the selected line is printed to stdout, which makes fzf a building block you can put in the middle of any pipeline, for example git branch | fzf | xargs git switch. It is written in Go and distributed as a single binary.

Its shell integration for bash, zsh and fish adds key bindings that many people install fzf for: Ctrl+R searches your command history, Ctrl+T inserts a file path, and Alt+C changes into a selected directory. The project’s README explains how to enable them for your shell.

fzf also supports multi-select with -m, a preview window that can run a command on the highlighted item (for example fzf --preview 'cat {}'), and pairs well with fast file listers such as fd and rg --files.
