Advertising

Commitpedia is free to read and free to edit. Ads help pay for the server and the domain. This page explains how ads work here.

Where you will see ads

  • Between two sections of longer articles, never inside a section.
  • Below an article, before “See also”.
  • Once in the catalogue on the home page, and once in longer topic and search lists.

Every ad is labelled “Advertisements”.

Where you will never see ads

  • Right after a code block or next to a “Check before you run this” warning, so an ad can never be mistaken for part of a command.
  • On script and repository pages inside the content.
  • For logged-in contributors and editors, who see the site without ads.

Who chooses the ads

Ads are chosen and delivered by Google AdSense. Commitpedia does not pick individual ads and does not endorse the products shown. Editors cannot pay to change entries, and ads never influence what is written.

Privacy and consent

If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, you are asked whether ads may use cookies before personalised ads are shown. You can change your choice at any time with the “Privacy settings” link at the bottom of every page. Details are on the Privacy page.

Report a bad ad

If an ad looks like a scam, malware or a fake download button, write to [email protected] with the page address and, if possible, a screenshot. We block such ads.
