Privacy
This page explains what personal data Commitpedia handles, why, and what your rights are.
Who is responsible
Commitpedia (commitpedia.com) is run by Dominik Kusý, who is the controller of your personal data. Contact: [email protected].
Readers
You can read Commitpedia without an account. The site itself sets no tracking cookies. The web server keeps technical logs (address, time, page) for security and troubleshooting, for a short time.
Editors
An account stores your username, email address and password (stored only in scrambled form). Your display name and your edits are public as part of each entry’s history, because the encyclopedia keeps every version. Logged-in editors get a login cookie. Legal basis: providing the service you signed up for.
Reports and spam protection
Reports store the reason and details you write. To stop abuse, the site keeps a scrambled, non-reversible form of your network address for up to one hour. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the site safe.
Advertising
Commitpedia may show ads from Google AdSense. When ads are on, Google and its partners can use cookies and similar technologies to show and measure ads. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent first and can change their choice at any time with the “Privacy settings” link at the bottom of every page. Legal basis: your consent. Google explains how it uses this information at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Cookies
Commitpedia itself uses only cookies that the site needs to work. They need no consent:
- wordpress_logged_in_…, wordpress_sec_… and wordpress_test_cookie: keep editors signed in and check that the browser accepts cookies. Session or up to 14 days.
- wp-settings-…: remembers editor screen settings. Up to 1 year, only for signed-in editors.
- __cf_bm and similar Cloudflare cookies: tell people from bots to protect the site. Up to 30 minutes.
Advertising cookies from Google and its partners are set only as described under Advertising, and in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland only after you agree. Your choice is stored in a cookie by Google’s consent tool (FCCDCF and FCNEC, up to 13 months).
Service providers
The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which protects it and passes requests to our server. Cloudflare processes technical data such as your network address to do this. Ads, when switched on, are provided by Google.
How long data is kept
- Accounts: until you ask us to delete them.
- Edit history: kept as part of the encyclopedia. If your account is deleted, your edits can be reassigned so your name no longer appears.
- Reports: as long as needed to handle them.
- Spam-protection data: up to one hour.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, to restrict or object to its use, and withdraw consent at any time. Write to [email protected]. You can also complain to a data protection authority; in Slovakia this is the Office for Personal Data Protection of the Slovak Republic.
