On GitHub: The official source for MDN Web Docs content. Home to over 14,000 pages of documentation about HTML, CSS, JS, HTTP, Web APIs, and more.

Open on GitHub

This repository holds the written content of MDN Web Docs, Mozilla’s reference and learning site for web technologies. Every page about an HTML element, a CSS property, a JavaScript method, an HTTP header, or a browser API lives here as a Markdown file, organized in folders that mirror the site’s URLs.

It is a good place to start contributing to open source. Fixing a typo, clarifying an example, or correcting outdated information is usually a small pull request against one file, and the project’s contributor documentation explains the writing style and the review process. Browser compatibility tables are not stored here; they come from the separate mdn/browser-compat-data project.

For day-to-day work you will mostly read the published site, but knowing the repository exists helps when you spot a mistake: each MDN page has a link to its source on GitHub, so you can propose a fix in minutes.
