On GitHub: Node.js JavaScript runtime ✨🐢🚀✨

Open on GitHub

This is the main repository of Node.js, the runtime that lets you run JavaScript on servers, in command-line tools and in build systems. It combines Google’s V8 engine with libuv for asynchronous I/O and a standard library of built-in modules such as node:fs, node:http, node:crypto and node:test.

The repository holds the C++ and JavaScript source, the API documentation (the doc/api folder), the test suite and the release changelogs. Reading the changelog for your major version is the most reliable way to learn which features became stable or were deprecated. Even-numbered major releases become Long-Term Support (LTS) versions, which are the ones to use in production.

It is also the place to report bugs in Node itself and to follow discussions about new APIs. Contribution guidelines are in CONTRIBUTING.md; the documentation is published at nodejs.org/docs.
