On GitHub: TypeScript is a superset of JavaScript that compiles to clean JavaScript output.
Open on GitHubThis repository contains the TypeScript compiler (tsc), the standard library type definitions (lib.*.d.ts) and the language service that editors such as VS Code use for autocompletion, errors and refactoring. You install it from npm as the typescript package.
Beyond the code, the issue tracker is a useful resource: many “why does TypeScript do this?” questions are answered in existing issues, and design discussions for upcoming features are held there. Release notes for each version explain new type-system features with examples.
For learning the language itself, start with the handbook at typescriptlang.org/docs and the online playground, then come to the repository when you hit edge cases or want to follow the project’s direction.
