On GitHub: For developers, who are building real-time data-driven applications, Redis is the preferred, fastest, and most feature-rich cache, data structure server, and document and vector query engine.
Open on GitHubThe repository contains the Redis server, redis-cli, redis-benchmark, Sentinel and the fully commented example redis.conf, which is one of the best references for every configuration directive and its default value.
Licensing changed over time, according to the license section of the README and the Redis licenses page: releases up to 7.2.x are under BSD-3-Clause; after the March 2024 license change, 7.4.x is under a dual RSALv2/SSPLv1 license; Redis 8.0 and later are available under RSALv2, SSPLv1 or AGPLv3, at your choice. Check which version you deploy if licensing matters to your organization.
Building from source needs only a C compiler and make on Linux and macOS; TLS support is optional and enabled with BUILD_TLS=yes. Most production systems use distribution packages, the official packages or container images instead.
